A former JFK hangout near the Los Angeles Times building, the Redwood Bar & Grill now has a pirate theme, with nautical gear everywhere—weathered wooden planks, sailing flags on the ceiling and walls, and tops of barrels for tabletops.

The California Yacht Club's waterfront dining room has floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the boat-filled harbor. The adjacent lawn holds a 45-foot-high tent for events.Bigger than the Titanic, the historic Queen Mary features Art Deco salons, exhibit halls, and a picnic area adjacent to the liner.

The largest ballroom at the tropical Catamaran Resort Hotel has a ceiling that resembles the hull of a boat.

David Stark also created unique centerpieces for the 2018 Robin Hood benefit, also held at the Javits Center. The event, which had a “Lights of New York” theme, featured three-sided mini marquee centerpieces that offered messages of gratitude and celebrated the organization's anniversary.

At the arrival reception and dinner, an indigo and goldenrod color palette found in the table linens and flatware was especially striking.
