After more than a year of travel restrictions and lockdowns, almost everyone is suffering from a serious case of wanderlust. Combine that with Zoom fatigue and attendees are ready to be transported from their living rooms to a faraway place.

Enter Discover Live. This live virtual travel company works with event planners and managers to plan customized corporate experiences and itineraries for groups, big and small. Looking for a fun, entertaining activity after a webinar or sales conference? Or maybe a team-building outing? Discover Live’s tours range from short, 20-minute visits to full immersive experiences in global destinations like Rome, Florence and Luxor—without the need to pack your bags.

Not only can Discover Live send guests around the world, but to help really set the scene, the team can also ship authentic food items and drinks to attendees, along with materials—including fun facts and recipes for traditional F&B—to allow the attendees to familiarize themselves with the location’s culture and history ahead of the event.

What’s more, for event organizers looking to add another layer of entertainment to increase engagement levels, Discover Live offers the option to include a magician at the tour location for a show that often involves local passersby and the audience. Plus, events can incorporate local musicians who play traditional music as well.

Reach Remote Teams With Virtual Travel Experiences

Similar to an in-person travel experience, Discover Live’s virtual visits allow remote team members to connect, build camaraderie and share stories—just as if they were walking side by side down the streets of Porto, Tunisia or Tokyo.

For example, Discover Live recently curated a 90-minute immersive event that digitally transported a group of 40 employees, located around the world, to Porto, Portugal and Tunisia, North Africa. Starting in Tunisia, Discover Live’s tour guide led the group through the city’s streets, stopping at a covered bazaar to see the perfumes, spices, shoes and colorful textiles, as well as a bookstore and traditional pastry shops. The tour ended with a stop at a popular local restaurant for a cooking lesson from the chef who explained two traditional dishes and prepared a lamb couscous recipe with vegetables and regional seasonings.

From there, another guide whisked the group to Porto to visit some of the city’s famous Port wine cellars, which included a detailed lesson on the wine. As the group strolled through outdoor cafes, the guide shared the history of Porto, along with information on classic local dishes like francesinha and bacalhau, as well as a lesson on some Portuguese words. Throughout the experience, the attendees were able to ask questions and engage with the guide.

Discover Live‘s tours of these two unique locations reinforced the client’s desire to promote diversity and offer an appreciation of other cultures, while addressing a global audience.

"The entire team felt like you transported them out of their daily grind and immersed them into not one but two amazing destinations! The tours were nothing short of fascinating. We appreciate all the work you put into personalizing this experience for us. We are planning to use Discover Live for lots of upcoming events, including our sales meeting and as entertainment during our conferences,” shared Laurie P. from the Fortune 500 tech company who booked the two-city virtual tour.

Connect to IRL Events With a Virtual Trip

How do you keep a large group entertained, interested and engaged? For a group of 320 people that included clients and employees, Discover Live created a shared virtual travel experience—a 60-minute virtual trip to Tokyo—to correspond with the opening ceremony of this year’s Olympic Games. The live tour guide greeted the group outside one of the two main Olympic venues before explaining the history of the Olympics, including the background story behind the mascots and even the creation of the emoji.

Throughout the experience, the group was presented with multiple polls and participated in a lively online chat, which included comments like "This is amazing," "I feel like I've traveled to Tokyo" and "Where are we going next?". To encourage engagement, the Discover Live team populated the chat with fun facts and relevant links. By the end of the tour, the audience had learned about the Olympics, local food, traditions and even earthquake-proof buildings.

Discover Live’s revolutionary virtual travel experiences let event planners offer up the whole world to clients and guests—no passport required.
