Despite weather conditions that made a mid-June evening feel more like rainy April, 60-plus eager beauty buffs filled Newbury Street’s Sleek MedSpa on Thursday for a "Summer Survival Safari" party hosted by PrettyCity.com. The event was a joint venture to generate new business for the medical spa and promote the national beauty, leisure, and wellness Web site's recent expansion into Boston.
From 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., guests—almost exclusively young women—packed the compact bilevel space, lining up for one of four complimentary mini spa services: microdermabrasion, peels, laser hair removal, and makeovers.
“Boston is an exciting new market for PrettyCity.com, and we were very pleased with the quality of the guests in attendance,” said the Web site's special events coordinator Sarah Schilling. “They made it easy for us to attain our goal of building new buzz for Sleek MedSpa.”
While waiting their turn for treatments, guests sipped Zentinis and Zen iced teas provided by Zen Green Tea Liqueur and Skyy Vodka, and munched on chocolate-dipped strawberries and cheese fondue from the Melting Pot.
“The event was a success and it helped support our daily mission of helping women feel better about themselves and enjoy taking care of themselves,” Schilling said.
To keep the salon state of mind going at home, departing guests were given gift bags filled with beauty products from M.A.C., Kiss My Face, Duchess Marden, and other brands.
