1. For an eco-minded space, the earth-friendly Element hotel by Westin is a nongaming property that opened in Summerlin in December 2008 with 123 nonsmoking suites. The 542-square-foot executive suites each include a large table for six and a conference speakerphone. Element is 15 minutes away from the Strip.
2. Downtown’s El Cortez Hotel & Casino, which originally opened in 1941, reopened in May after a complete overhaul that took $20 million and more than two years to complete. The project added 64 El Cortez Cabana Suites to the nearby building formerly known as the Odgen House; the suites’ decor is inspired by retro South Beach Miami themes. The property includes a banquet room for about 300.
3. On the Strip but with a boutique feel, the 50-room Hotel32 opened on the top floor of the Monte Carlo in August. Five room types range from studios to two-bedroom suites, including lofts and penthouses, with spaces suitable for intimate gatherings or larger events. Available to all Hotel32 guests, Lounge32 offers refreshments, coffee, and evening cocktails, as well as a view of the Las Vegas skyline.
