South Bay Productions has launched Respond-R, an interactive video system that creates multimedia experiences through responsive physical interaction from the audience. It works through motion tracking technology and can be used with any surface such as walls, bars, and booths, plus customized floor mats. For the non-techies, this means that if someone moves in front of the projected image, it tracks their movement and the video is programmed to interact with that movement. Two effects come packaged with the system: the water effect, in which people can run their hands over the image to make the water ebb and flow; and the reveal effect, in which guests can "wipe off" an image to uncover another item. For example, say you have pieces of ice on a screen, when you wave your hand across it, the ice is wiped away to reveal a cold soda bottle. Custom effects can also be created for clients. Respond-R is also available in a tabletop format with a 42-inch monitor built in. The product can be used as a unique branding technique at events and tradeshows. Guests will have fun playing with the Respond-R and definitely remember the company, sponsor, or product on it. —Vanessa Goyanes
