The reputation surrounding fund managers and investment bankers may be more about wealth than about pink satin and gangsta rap—natch—but the party following Roth Capital's annual three-day Orange County conference at the St. Regis Monarch Beach Resort & Spa added all that into the mix for 2,000 of its investors, employees, and guests. Roth C.E.O. Byron Roth worked with Elite Productions, headed by Lili Shadab, to produce the unsubtle affair. The party had a flirtatious look in pinks and leopard prints, and featured disco balls spinning above a rotating bar manned by shirtless male bartenders. The crowd reposed on satiny pink ottomans, sofas, and custom-made leopard-print furniture. Antique wall sconces contrasted against the modern furnishings. Deep pink arrangements of roses in silk leopard-print boxes topped the cocktail tables, and orchids hung from upside down silk leopard-print umbrellas. "The inspiration was to create a space that was chic and sexy by incorporating animal prints with accents of silk satin and mixing old and new elements," said Elite's Shadab. "To keep from overdoing the animal print [fabrics], we created the leopard print on the tent ceiling with lighting effects."
A shadow dancer in a custom-built backlit tube wiggled in the center of the party, and pink- and rhinestone-clad go-go dancers along with ladies from the Pussycat Dolls troupe danced for the crowd. Rapper Snoop Dogg—famously from nearby Long Beach—performed an hour-long set.
