 * INCOMING *

1. OLYMPIC CYBER-SECURITY: With estimates of up to 14 million cyber-security threats a day during the Olympics, a consultant has logged more than 200,000 hours testing the defenses of technology that provides "systems that will deliver results to Olympic venue scoreboards, event timetables to athletes, and Olympic accreditation information to British border officials." Associated Press: http://wapo.st/NtltXX

Marketing Week selected the five best Olympic marketing campaigns, which feature companies including P&G, Coco-Cola, and Omega: http://bit.ly/MQaUTi

2. WALDORF AMNESTY: In an attempt to literally reclaim pieces of its history, New York's Waldorf-Astoria Hotel is offering amnesty to guests who stole items from the luxury hotel between its 1931 opening and 1960. Bloomberg Businessweek: "We know there are treasures out there that belong to the Waldorf; we see them going up on eBay all the time," said Meg Towner, the hotel's social media manager. "We'd like them back, and we'd like to know where they came from. Maybe your grandfather used to work at the hotel and came away with a serving dish, or your mother had her debutante ball here and ran away with a sugar bowl." http://bit.ly/PaQYw8

3. BARCLAYS' BAD NAME: In the midst of a scandal and the resignation of its C.E.O., the new home of the N.B.A.'s Brooklyn Nets might not be top of mind for the bank. But as the Barclays Center wraps up construction for its September debut, it may be joining other disgraced companies that bought naming rights to sports venues. (Remember Houston's Enron Field?) New York Times: http://nyti.ms/NCnHVa

4. FIREWORKS FAIL: Mashable: "San Diego's Fourth of July fireworks show was supposed to last 15 minutes. Instead, all the projectiles went off in 30 seconds about five minutes before the show was supposed to start. Confused attendees waiting for the show to start were told that they'd already seen it and to head home. Authorities blamed a "technical difficulty" for the fizzle." http://bit.ly/PisqTi

5. PLYMOUTH'S 400TH BIRTHDAY: Boston Globe: "Seven years and 127 days remain until Plymouth’s 400th anniversary, according to the countdown clock on the event’s newly launched website, and some serious planning is already under way. The goal, organizers say, is a festive, historically sensitive celebration that gives due regard to Native Americans, quadruples the number of annual visitors in 2020, and leaves a lasting impression on the look of the town’s harbor district." http://bo.st/O8N5mG
