* INCOMING *

1. VEGAN GOES MAINSTREAM:
 The New York Times: "[F]rom power tables in Beverly Hills to pubs in the San Fernando Valley, the surging popularity of plant-based diets is drastically changing the dining landscape. That shift is under way in various cities around the world, but it’s happening in an explosive way in and around Los Angeles: at the elite gastronome-magnets, at casual gathering spots and everywhere in between." http://nyti.ms/Uz1xfg

Speaking of: Here's our roundup—from just last week!—of 10 new vegetarian menu items from event caterers: http://bit.ly/Qg8dtb

2. STARTUP FUNERAL: New York magazine, on a gathering of 100 people in Manhattan Friday night: "The first-ever Startup Funeral for the failed technology companies of yesteryear was designed to provide a roomful of Zuckerberg aspirants with some half-serious cautionary tales, and perhaps a bit of closure...'Everyone has a launch party. Nobody does the last-stage-of-grief thing,' said Kevin Galligan, one of the event's organizers and founder of a medical-research start-up that long ago passed into the digital beyond." http://bit.ly/UMb94L

3. EMMY PARTY TIMELINE:
 New York dispatched a team of reporters to this weekend's Emmy bashes for a blow-by-blow of the celebrity goings-on. At Showtime's party Saturday night: "Damian Lewis has stacked a plate with salmon, three-cheese mac and cheese, and skirt steak. At least someone eats at these things." http://bit.ly/ShcRpY

4. BILINGUAL MARKETING:
 Last week's Portada Sixth Annual Hispanic Advertising and Media Conference featured a panel titled "Spanish and/or English: That Is the Question." Brand marketers—including folks from Tecate, General Mills, Diageo, and Yahoo—discussed how marketing strategists should communicate with an increasingly bilingual and bicultural Hispanic audience. 5. GUEST COUNTING:
 As an upgrade the standard people-counting clicker, Hella is introducing the APC People Counter, which uses 3-D camera technology to count attendees at venues, trade shows, and events while adjusting for distractions such as changing in light conditions and unusual crowd movement. 6. CANDY GPS:
 NestlĂ© launched a new "We Will Find You" campaign in the U.K., which will outfit six NestlĂ© candy bar wrappers with GPS trackers that activate once opened. The brand's prize team uses GPS to find the purchaser and doles out ÂŁ10,000. AdWeek:
