More than 400,000 festivalgoers turned up in Las Vegas from June 17 through 19 for the 20th anniversary of the Electric Daisy Carnival. Insomniac’s sold-out electronic music fest brought nightly fireworks, a redesigned festival landscape, eight distinct stage designs, 18 full-scale rides, and new art installations to the Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
The fest continued its tradition of offering vow renewals and legal wedding ceremonies, this year within two new wedding chapels located inside E.D.C. Town. These were meant to represent two iconic pillars of E.D.C.: The Chapel of Nature brought couples together amidst earthy tones and wood-carved hearts, while the Chapel of the Future resembled a futuristic space portal.
Among the weddings was the festival's first nationally recognized same-sex marriage ceremony. Liquor purveyor Smirnoff carried the ceremony on its festival live stream known as E.D.C. Live, a partnership that allowed fans to witness the fest from anywhere through various online portals such as Insomniac.com, YouTube, and the official E.D.C. Facebook page.
In all, this year's fest hosted approximately 160 scheduled marriage ceremonies over the three-day weekend.
