Republik opened in the entertainment district April 7. The unique, high-tech nightclub features computer-controlled, colour-changing fiber-optic curtains, walls of LED lights, and a two-storey waterfall backlit with colour-changing lights. The 14,000-square-foot space can hold as many as 1,500 people in three different rooms. The venue also contains a large indoor smoking area. Each room can accommodate an independent sound and lighting system. Washrooms have separate toilet facilities, but share sinks. On the men's side of the washroom, LCD TVs can broadcast live projections and video feeds from inside the club. —Robyn Small
