Low Key Re-opening Marks Sassafraz's Return

Nine months after a devastating fire almost put Sassafraz out of business, the Yorkville landmark quietly re-opened on September 25. Everything went according to plan, said Sassafraz sales manager Dennette Schott, and despite the lack of fanfare surrounding the re-opening, the bistro and patio were busy. No celebrities dropped by, but many longtime patrons did, including one couple who celebrated Sassafraz’s return with a lunchtime champagne toast.
