The Toronto Congress Centre previewed its soon-to-be-completed facilities Monday for Ontario tourism minister Peter Fonseca. The 500,000-square-foot expansion of the centre includes the main convention space, Exhibit Hall (which opened in January), and a new lobby, café, and meeting rooms (slated to open in the fall).

The expansion brings the total size of the building to one million square feet—making it the largest privately owned convention and meeting facility in Canada—and incorporates a number of green features such as recycled building materials, low-flow washroom fixtures, and thermal glazed windows. The new facilities have hosted three events since January—conventions for Wal-Mart and Curves and a wedding show.
