Potential Playboy bunnies were the main attraction at the Playboy Girls of Golf casting call party at Lucid, one of Toronto's hottest nightspots. About 3,000 guests, including Bruce Willis, Mos Def, Lennox Lewis, and Ben Johnson, came to celebrate the previous day's golf tournament and the casting call for the models vying to be a Canadian Playboy bunny, to be featured on the cover of the Girls of Golf issue. World Talent Management coordinated the models.
The dramatic venue, a former megaplex, was festooned with giant television screens showcasing the logos of event sponsors Lamborghini and Harley-Davidson. There was no shortage of the real wheels on display throughout the three-story venue. Lamborghini held court on the main floor with two vehicles, and the Harleys were liberally dispersed upstairs and down.
Before guests arrived, each of the Canadian women hoping to become a bunny perched on a Harley for her close-up. Although the field was narrowed, the winners were not announced during the event, and the suspense added frisson to the already lively event. Chocolatier extraordinaire Swiss Master provided a special treat: branded Playboy chocolates in black gift boxes with sassy gold bows. Party details were handled by Lucid under the direction of Doug Craig, and Toronto DJ Aristotle provided the musical beat that kept partygoers and bunny contenders swinging until the wee hours.
