With its striking Spanish Colonial decor, the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel has been the playground and home for celebrities since Errol Flynn. The Blossom Ballroom was the site of the first-ever Academy Awards in 1929.
Dan Tana’s is little more than a kitschy red-sauce Italian joint and steakhouse, but it’s one of the most storied celeb hangouts in town. Old Chianti bottles hang from the rafters, and red-and-white-checked linens cover the tables. The maitre d’ knows many folks’ names.Next to the Pantages Theatre, Bob’s Frolic Room is so noir it was featured in a scene in the neo-classic L.A. Confidential. Untouched by gentrification, the Art Deco decor, Al Hirschfield mural of old Hollywood stars, and jukebox attract a steady stream of regulars.
While most of Hollywood’s old glamour restaurants have come and gone, Musso & Frank Grill still has the clubby decor, leather seats, steaks, martinis and overall whiskey-soaked ambience that attracts the boldface names.
The landmark Pig ’n Whistle first opened its doors in 1927. The room features high ceilings with hand-carved wood beams, individually molded plaster sconces along the walls, antique stained-glass windows, and cozy booth seating.
