1. THREE PRESIDENTS, OPRAH HELP COMMEMORATE MARCH ON WASHINGTON: Marking the 50th anniversary of the March on Washington Wednesday were President Obama as well as Presidents Clinton and Carter, entertainers Jamie Foxx and Oprah Winfrey, and others. While rain stalled security checkpoints, the peaceful event recalled the march that saw Martin Luther King Jr. deliver his "I Have a Dream" speech. Washington Post: "Forgoing an umbrella in spite of persistent drizzle, Obama then addressed a crowd that extended beyond the Reflecting Pool. Some television networks showed archival footage of the 1963 crowd in split screen, giving the appearance of the modern president speaking across the decades to the grainy black-and-white masses of history." http://wapo.st/14aGQHI
2. GOLF CHANNEL GOOFS ON M.L.K. TIE-IN: While news networks offered plenty of coverage of the March on Washington, including social media outreach to their audiences, not every network got it right. New York Post: "The Golf Channel decided to mark the 50th anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s famous "I Have a Dream" speech with an invitation to its Twitter followers to share their 'golf dream.' The query sparked an Internet backlash that wasn't becalmed by the red-faced network's deletion of the lunchtime tweet and a belated apology." http://bit.ly/192r4Sr
