Netflix’s ‘Our Planet’ Experience at Dolby SoHo

The latest public exhibition at Dolby SoHo in New York brings to life Our Planet, Netflix’s new nature documentary series that emphasizes the consequences of climate change. Produced by Dolby and Netflix, the event features installations including a living garden wall with a screen that plays a montage of scenes from the series. The experience is open through April 22.

An interactive exhibit incorporates “Rewild Our Planet,” a new social augmented-reality experience developed by Netflix, Google, World Wildlife Fund, and technology company Phoria. The experience centers around a “crater” surrounded by four A.R. decals that represent four biomes and experiences that users can unlock on a custom A.R. app. Users playing at the same time can collaborate with one another to restore damaged biomes, unlock unique weather patterns, or have wild animal encounters. Projections triggered by the A.R. interactions are displayed on a curved wall.

‘Garden & Gun’ Mint Julep Month Media Event

Garden & Gun partnered with Maker’s Mark and Bourbon Country to kick off Mint Julep Month on April 4 at an invite-only event at Simon & the Whale at Freehand New York. The event served four original variations on the traditional julep, which guests could order from leather-pressed menus. This year, participants are encouraged to drink juleps—but without plastic straws—in support of water cleanup initiatives organized by Maker’s Mark. Mint Julep Month, which was founded by Louisville Tourism in 2013, runs through May 4.

The after-party, which was planned by Cindy Tenner, vice president of special events for HBO, took place at Ziegfeld Ballroom.
