This Week: Hats in the Park and Pow Wow Parties

Wednesday is a busy day, as ladies will lunch—in an array of spring millinery—at the Central Park Conservancy’s Frederick Law Olmsted luncheon (one of our Top 100 Events) in the park’s Conservatory Garden. Business leaders and philanthropists gather at the American Museum of Natural History for the institution’s corporate dinner benefit. And the New York City Ballet celebrates its spring gala at the New York State Theater. David Monn—fresh from Monday’s Costume Institute gala—is handling decor. Also tonight is a party at Rockefeller Center for the Travel Industry Association of America’s Pow Wow convention.

Thursday, Mount Sinai Medical Center’s big benefit, the Crystal Ball, is at the hospital’s Guggenheim Pavilion. The Whitney Museum of American Art holds its Art Party benefit, which has become so popular that this year it’s being held at the more spacious Splashlight Studios. In anticipation of next week’s furniture design blitz with the fairs and parties in Manhattan, the Brooklyn Designs expo begins Friday at Dumbo’s Arts at St. Ann’s. The fair runs through Sunday. On Saturday, the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation holds it kid-centric fest, the Kids for Kids fund-raiser, at Industria Superstudio. And mint juleps abound as the running of the 131st Kentucky Derby takes place in Louisville, Kentucky. The Pow Wow show comes to a close at the Javits Center, and culminates with a party Saturday evening on Ellis Island. Sunday is Mother’s Day, and on Monday the Parsons School of Design honors Saks Fifth Avenue and its C.E.O. Fred Wilson at Pier Sixty. Tuesday, Safe Horizon holds its Champion awards and luncheon at the 69th Regiment Armory.
