1. N.H.L. BANS NEW LIVE-STREAMING TECH FROM GAMES: The live-streaming tools Meerkat and Periscope are not welcome at National Hockey League games. The league banned fans from using the apps to broadcast footage before, during, or after games. Mashable: “The NHL has an official Periscope account (@nhl) of its own, with more than 22,000 followers and growing. And while Periscope launched just four weeks ago, the branding opportunities for organizations like the NHL seem pretty limitless: rinkside live streams of team warm-ups, exclusive interviews with players and coaches, the list goes on. So it figures: Why cede those opportunities (and future dollars) to fans?” http://on.mash.to/1JcAEHi
2. RED CARPET STUNT OVERSHADOWS TIME 100 GALA: Time magazine's annual gala honored the 100 celebrities, academics, and and others it deems the most influential on Tuesday, but coverage of the event largely centered on a prank on the red carpet in which comedian Amy Schumer prostrated herself in front of Kanye West and Kim Kardashian West. The stunt, and the couple’s reaction, dominated headlines. People: ”I saw them, and I asked my publicist, 'Can I dive in front of them and act like I fell?' And she said, 'I can't stop you,'" Schumer said. "I just dove right down.” http://bit.ly/1OFX95W
3. NICKELODEON PLANS SECOND KIDS' CHOICE SPORTS AWARDS: Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson will host the second Kids' Choice Sports Awards from Nickelodeon, which air live on July 16 from Los Angeles. Wilson, whose team won the Super Bowl in 2013, attended the debut of the award show last year. Hollywood Reporter: “Michael Strahan, who hosted last year's show, will continue to serve as executive producer on the show, which, like the Kids' Choice Awards, features stars — and athletes — winning awards voted on by kids and getting slimed.” http://bit.ly/1ySD6z1
