October 18, 2017: Miami Heat to Move Charity Golf Tournament From Trump Property, Freeform to Launch Series About Disney-Theme Weddings, Ticketmaster Will Take N.F.L. Ticketing Paperless

1. MIAMI HEAT TO MOVE CHARITY GOLF TOURNAMENT FROM TRUMP PROPERTY: The Miami Heat will move its charity golf tournament from President Donald Trump’s Doral golf course in 2018. The basketball team has held the event at the course for the past four years. Washington Post: “The Heat has held the tournament—called the Heat Scramble or the Heat Golf Classic—at Trump's Doral golf resort, outside Miami, every year since at least 2014. The team had also held the event at Doral in prior years, before Trump bought the course out of bankruptcy in 2012. The Heat's most recent tournament at Doral was held in August. A photo posted on Instagram by a Florida event company showed tables set for an outdoor luncheon on the golf course. In the past, the event has drawn corporate sponsors to play with active or retired Heat players and to meet the Heat dance team and mascot, Burnie (a fuzzy, anthropomorphic fireball wearing a basketball uniform). The Trump Organization did not respond to a request for comment for this report. The event benefits the Miami Heat Charitable Fund, which is administered by a larger nonprofit group, the Miami Foundation. The foundation said it could not release details on how much Trump's course was paid for the tournament. The team spokesman said it was the Heat's third-biggest annual fundraiser — the team also runs a family festival and a black-tie gala.” http://wapo.st/2ghIsy8

2. FREEFORM TO LAUNCH SERIES ABOUT DISNEY-THEME WEDDINGS: Disney-owned network Freeform will debut Disney's Fairy Tale Weddings, a seven-episode docuseries focused on lavish weddings at Disney destinations, this spring. The Hollywood Reporter: "Produced by Simon Lythgoe, Ann Lewis Roberts and Jenny Daly, in partnership with Walt Disney Parks & Resorts, each episode of the hourlong series will offer a behind-the-scenes look at some of the most spectacular weddings (and engagements) at Disney destinations around the globe. From a holiday proposal at Aulani (Disney's Hawaii resort) to a winter wonderland wedding at Walt Disney World in Florida, each episode will follow a couple's journey from start to 'happily ever after.' ... Disney's Fairy Tale Weddings & Honeymoons has been offering wedding experiences for 25 years. It focuses on fantasy and global wedding planning services under the Disney umbrella. The company will exec produce alongside Daly's T Group Productions (Storage Hunters), which has a co-production partnership with Roberts and her Roberts Media and Lythgoe's Legacy Productions, among others. 'The Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings team is honored to provide another behind-the-scenes glimpse into our Disney wedding planning services, share our unique fairy tale wedding locations, and connect viewers with our couples’ personal love stories,' said Korri McFann, marketing director at Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings & Honeymoons. A premiere date has not yet been determined." http://bit.ly/2zglbEa

3. TICKETMASTER WILL TAKE N.F.L. TICKETING PAPERLESS: Ticketmaster will soon sell strictly digital tickets to football games, as part of a multi-year contract extension with the N.F.L. TechCrunch: "Ticketmaster will also continue to run the NFL’s resale marketplace, the NFL Ticket Exchange, which will be migrated into the primary and resale platform on the company’s main NFL site. 'This partnership lays the groundwork for where the ticketing industry can go, and we’re actively building both our business model and our technology to empower content-owners to operate in a new way,' said Jared Smith, president of Ticketmaster North America, in a statement. 'This will create smarter venues and give fans an easier, safer way to attend events.' The deal also means that Ticketmaster’s 'Presence' software which tracks ticket-trading, locks in identity of attendees, and provide validation and authentication for tickets sold on other marketplaces. Sadly, the security aspect for ticketed events has become even more important in the wake of terrorist attacks at venues in France and the U.S. Ticketmaster will also serve as the preferred primary ticketing partner for the NFL, the company said. Which means it will provide other tools and services to each club and stadium." http://tcrn.ch/2yvyZNn
