Located in the rapidly developing mixed-use neighborhood of NoMa (north of Massachusetts Avenue), the eight-story, 218-room Courtyard Washington D.C./U.S. Capitol hotel opened April 15, offering 2,800 square feet of meeting space. Managed by Marriott International, the property is the District’s first Hispanic-owned hotel, as well as the first hotel in the 35-block NoMa area near Union Station. For Marriott's Courtyard brand, it’s the chain’s first hotel in D.C. to have a new public space floor plan.
Designed for the business traveler, the second floor lobby has a bright, contemporary look and a color scheme of olive, orange, and teal. A signature feature of the space is the Courtyard GoBoard, a 52-inch LCD touch screen loaded with local news, weather, airport data, and a handy Google Earth map system spotlighting attractions on the National Mall. Seating options in the semi-enclosed lounge area include four booths, each with HDTVs. Guests can connect to free Wi-Fi at nearby work stations equipped with computers and printers.
Of the five meeting rooms, the largest are the combined Congressional (750 square feet) and Monuments (750 square feet) rooms, with a reception capacity of 225. Additional guest facilities include a small indoor pool and fitness center, and a casual 50-seat restaurant serving an American menu at breakfast and dinner.
