Here’s a closer look at Boston's newest eateries, drinking spots, hotels, conference areas, private rooms, and other spaces available for events this fall. The new and renovated Boston-area venues are available for corporate parties, weddings, fundraisers, outdoor functions, business dinners, team-building activities, conferences, meetings, and more.
Kimpton Marlowe Hotel

In September, Cambridge’s Kimpton Marlowe Hotel completed a refresh of 8,700 square feet of prefunction, meeting, and event space. The spaces include the Serrano Ballroom (pictured), a 3,402-square-foot room that accommodates 160 guests for a classroom-style event or 350 for a reception, and the Marlowe Boardroom, a 558-square-foot space that welcomes 14 guests for a conference setup and features an 86-inch TV monitor with video conferencing capabilities. Several other refreshed spaces are also equipped with full AV capabilities.

Hotel AKA Back Bay

You’ll find 4,800 square feet of versatile meeting and event space at Hotel AKA Back Bay, which completes a full design refresh of its public spaces later this fall. Event spaces include the 1,212-square-foot grand salon, which accommodates 120 guests theater-style or 100 for a reception-style event, and Salons I and II, which are two 400-square-foot spaces with 12-foot ceilings that accommodate as many as 30 guests for a theater-style event. A central gathering area known as a.lounge+library will also be unveiled in the heart of the hotel. This space will be ideal for reception-style events of up to 100 guests. Additionally, there’s a new 24-hour Technogym fitness center equipped with the latest state-of-the-art equipment, along with newly designed premium, platinum, and signature suite accommodations.

First Street Market

In the heart of East Cambridge, First Street Market is a multipurpose space that opened in August. Accommodating 150 guests for a standing reception or 130 for a seated event, the 6,000-square-foot space fills with natural light and features a wall with a colorful mural. First Street Market has a TV on site, and other AV equipment is available to rent. Catering can be brought in from Amba, chef Will Gilson’s Mediterranean spot next door.

XOXO Sushi Bar

Measuring 1,500 square feet, XOXO Sushi Bar is a contemporary Japanese American izakaya that opened in Brookline’s Chestnut Hill in March. The 55-seat restaurant includes a 16-seat bar under a vaulted ceiling with custom millwork and pebble stone mosaic walls. Equipped with a Sonos system for any requested audio/music needs, XOXO is available for full and partial buyouts.

Sensa Padel

The first padel club in Boston, Sensa Padel brought the sport—a fusion between squash and tennis played in doubles on an enclosed court—to Boston’s Hyde Park neighborhood in May. The 14,000-square-foot padel area and 4,000-square-foot social area accommodate as many as 60 guests. It features four indoor courts under ceilings measuring over 40 feet high. Equipped with AV capabilities, the venue is less than a one-minute walk from Roundhead Brewing Company, which can cater to Sensa.

WNDR Museum Boston

It’s all about the experience at WNDR Museum Boston, an awe-inspiring interactive art venue in downtown Boston that opened in March. Available for full or partial buyouts, the immersive art experience features rotating exhibits that stimulate the senses. The entire 17,000-square-foot venue accommodates 300 guests, and a 700-square-foot lounge rental space accommodates 35. Both are equipped with full AV capabilities.

Red Fox

Tucked in Boston’s North End, Red Fox opened in July. Drenched in red and ideal for private events, the Italian American restaurant and lounge hosts events in its 675-square-foot bar area for as many as 30 guests. It can also host events in the 470-square-foot dining area for 30 standing guests or 20 seated. There’s also a 300-square-foot martini room, which accommodates 20 guests for a cocktail-style event or full buyouts for as many as 85.

Qué Mas

Featuring Latin cuisine with an international twist, Qué Mas is a 3,400-square-foot restaurant featuring 130 seats, including those at the bar. Bright and lively, the Beverly spot is helmed by Noe Ortega and Alex Pineda, son of Boston restaurant royal Lydia Shire. Don’t miss pieces from Pineda’s personal art collection dotting the venue, including a display case with sardine cans from around the world that he and Shire collected together for over 25 years. Qué Mas opened in June.

AWOL Stowe

Live out your New England fantasies at AWOL Stowe, the latest Lark Hotels venue that opened in August in Vermont. The 35-room and suite resort features a 1,600-square-foot lodge that accommodates 75 guests, surrounded by mountains and forest. There’s also a 3,000-square-foot outdoor space, which features an outdoor, Nordic spa deck with a 7-foot cedar cold plunge pool, an outdoor hot tub, a cedar sauna, and roaring fire pits, which accommodate 125.

Bosse Pickledom

Grab a paddle and head to Bosse Pickledom, opening in Natick Mall in October. The highly anticipated 97,000-square-foot spot will feature 21 pickleball courts, each with its own lounge-style seating space and courtside service. There will also be a stadium court accommodating 400 guests and two VIP sports lounges, each accommodating 30 guests. Four golf simulators and six dart lanes also welcome up to 60 guests for a cocktail-style reception. The venue, which welcomes as many as 1,500 guests overall, features four restaurants helmed by Boston chef Chris Coombs. They include Bosse Enoteca, which accommodates 166 guests, and a private dining room that welcomes 36 guests for a seated private event, or 50 for a cocktail-style reception. Full-venue and full-floor buyouts are available. Several of the spaces feature full AV capabilities.
