Boston’s theater district is now home to the city's first W Hotel, which opened on October 29. In addition to 235 guest rooms and 23 suites, the highly anticipated new property includes meeting and banquet space, a big-name restaurant, and a lobby bar.
The building’s glass facade contains a clean, modern interior. The lobby, with a bar area called the W Bar, features mirrored ceilings, cascading water, and stone walls that all play into the sleek, minimalist aesthetic. Also in the lobby is chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten’s Market, a Culinary Concepts restaurant that features wood elements, gray floors, and off-white leather seating. The restaurant includes a 32-seat private room called Backstage at Market. The menu offers a mix of Asian and Italian elements, along with Vongerichten’s signature French fare.
The guest rooms maintain W’s signature contemporary look and taupe palette, and all have slate bathrooms, 37-inch or larger LCD TVs, and iPod docking stations.
More than 5,000 square feet of meeting space is spread across nine rooms, the largest of which is the Great Room, which holds 211 for a reception and can be divided into three separate spaces. Also on site: Sweat gym and the 5,000-square-foot Bliss spa, with 10 treatment rooms and a retail shop.
