Chi-town Staple Landing in Penn Quarter

Longtime Chicago neighborhood favorite Bar Louie is coming to the district next week—and in a much bigger format. The 10,200-square-foot restaurant is set to open its 33rd location in the Gallery Place complex in Penn Quarter on June 29, serving up its menu of bar staples such as cheeseburger sliders, sweet and spicy tempura shrimp, and buffalo calamari. Bar Louie's motto is "Eat Drink Be Happy," and its logo is a martini glass, so it's not surprising that the beverage menu includes more than 20 beers, a hefty offering of wines by the glass, and specialty cocktails such as the Dirty C.E.O. and a pomegranate margarita.

The venue design will be similar to its sister locations (13 of which are located in Illinois), with mosaic tiling, hardwood floors, retro lighting fixtures, and plasma-screen TVs—only this time around, the space is much larger, as typical Bar Louies range from 4,000 to 7,000 square feet. Seating for 450 in the main dining room will range from plush circular booths to high-top bar tables. Also on-site is a 1,200-square-foot outdoor patio that can seat 50.
