Candy Expo Previews New Gift Items

Today, the Chicago Sun-Times highlighted some of the more innovative snacks and candies that appeared at the National Confectioners Association's All Candy Expo, which took place last week at McCormick Place. According to the report, the trade show displayed 2,000 soon-to-be-released items that ranged from unexpected (vanilla-flavored Wheat Stix) to plain bizarre (Too Tarts' sugar-free spray candy meant to taste like melted blueberry ice cream).

Amongst the gift-worthy offerings were cone-shaped ceramic dishes filled with Jelly Belly's Ice Cream Parlor Mix, which contains jelly beans in Cold Stone Creamery flavors like Birthday Cake Remix and Mint Mint Chocolate Chip. For the upcoming holiday season, Starbucks will roll out thematic gingerbread latte and peppermint mocha truffles, which will be available at Target, Wal-Mart, and drugstores (though not, funnily enough, at Starbucks.)
