Last week, Oprah Winfrey said she'd be willing to travel to Copenhagen to meet with members of the International Olympic Committee if her presence would help boost Chicago's chances of winning the 2016 Olympics bid. As of yesterday, the talk show host is officially part of the delegation, which comprises more than 100 members and includes athletes and politicians.
According to the The Chicago Sun-Times, Winfrey will use her time in Denmark to attend dinners and cocktail parties, where she'll chat up members of the committee. She isn't expected, however, to join Michelle Obama and Mayor Richard Daley in their formal presentation before the committee on October 2.
In other delegation news, The Chicago Tribune revealed that three local designers will create "official city apparel" for those headed to Copenagen on Chicago's behalf. Maria Pinto will dress the women; Hart Schaffner Marx will create custom blazers for the men; and Lee Allison will design silk neckties.
