TechCrunch has apologized and pledged to fix its screening process, but it's not the first time a tech event has turned hostile to women. 2. WHICH PRO FOOTBALL STADIUM CHARGES THE MOST FOR BEER?: New Yorkers might be surprised that a beer at a Giants or Jets game costs less than the league average of 44 cents per ounce. The priciest brews come from Detroit, at 67 per ounce, followed by Dallas, Pittsburgh, and Seattle, according to TeamMarketing.com. 3. SUBWAY SPONSORS ITS OWN RUNWAY SHOW: Subway is one of the last brands you might think would be involved with Fashion Week. 4. HOW TO PRINT A FASHION-WEEK-WORTHY 3-D DRESS: In other fashion innovation news, the 3-D printing company MakerBot unveiled the Verlan Dress created using its Flexible Filament, a new material made out of polyester. It debuted at New Skins: Computational Design for Fashion workshop at the Pratt Institute. The Verlan Dress may be downloaded and printed from Thingiverse.com.

CHICAGO: Firehouse Chicago, a new space for weddings, corporate functions, and social events, hosts its grand opening on September 29. The Edgewater venue can host standing functions for 100 and seated dinners for 75.
Williams-Sonoma celebrated its new Lincoln Park store with a party on Thursday night. Megan Taylor of Fig was the DJ, and snacks came from local restaurants including RPM Italian and the Pecking Order.
The Lyric Opera of Chicago's Opening Night Gala and Opera Ball is October 5. The evening will include a performance of Verdi's Otello followed by a dinner-dance at the Hilton Chicago.
The 10th annual "Mutt Strut" is scheduled for October 5. The all-ages event in Lakeview includes a "doggy fitness course," a K9 cake-eating contest, a face-painter, and a bouncy house. Proceeds benefit the Chicago Canine Rescue.
LAS VEGAS: Life iIs Beautiful Festival has released more details about its kickoff party featuring musical performances by Dawes and Todd Rundgren. On October 25, 16 celebrity chefs will come together to participate in "Grills & Guitars," a celebration of the backyard barbecue, combining open-flame cookery with craft brews, artisanal wines, and cocktails created by mixologists from around the country. NEW YORK: New York's Village Halloween Parade has announced a Kickstarter campaign launching September 19 to raise money for the event. "Revival," the theme for the event, which was cancelled last year because of Hurricane Sandy, celebrates the parade's 40th anniversary.
