October 16, 2013: Fey and Poehler to Host Next 2 Golden Globes, Kitchen & Bath Show Leaves Chicago, Marfa Comes to Manhattan

1. FEY AND POEHLER TO HOST GOLDEN GLOBES FOR NEXT 2 YEARS: After a successful debut in January, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler will co-host the Golden Globes in 2014 and 2015. New York Post: "It’s understandable why NBC and Dick Clarke Productions would want to bring the former SNL stars back for 2014 and 2015. This year’s co-hosting gig brought in critical raves and 19.7 million viewers, the largest audience the show had had in six years." http://bit.ly/1gI9jx0

2. KITCHEN & BATH SHOW LEAVES CHICAGO: In a huge loss for Chicago's McCormick Place convention center, the Kitchen & Bath Show will join with the International Builders' Show in Las Vegas. Chicago Tribune: "McCormick Place labor costs were seen as too expensive for exhibitors, especially at a time when the housing market had collapsed, said Karin Fendrich, show director. That decision preceded the labor rule changes. The show more recently decided to return Chicago to its lineup in 2016. Exhibitors like the city and its strong architecture and design community, she said, though they still think labor costs for moving heavy equipment remain high." http://trib.in/1epWlBX (registration required)

3. MARFA COMES TO MANHATTAN: Marfa Dialogues/New York, a two-month series of public events, is the third such festival from the gallery Ballroom Marfa. But the Manhattan series is the first outside of the small but intensely cultural city of Marfa, Texas. It has attracted New York institutions such as the High Line, Pratt, and Cooper Union. New York Times: "In fact, this roadshow might be the first step towards a truly mobile—and global—festival. [Ballroom Marfa’s co-founder Fairfax] Dorn said she’s already been contacted by institutions in Paris, Berlin, Miami and Los Angeles, all interested in importing that Marfa magic." http://nyti.ms/1eqAlH3
