The 54th Annual Grammy Awards

In what executive producer Ken Ehrlich described as a "respectful musical tribute" to Whitney Houston, Jennifer Hudson performed a dramatic but spare homage to the pop singer, illuminated by a single spotlight at Staples Center during Sunday night’s Grammy awards in Los Angeles.

The Recording Academy’s “Grammy Celebration”

The official Grammys after-party for 5,000 guests took to the Los Angeles Convention Center with a Rio carnival theme. The vibrant and colorful look was inspired by the South American travels of the Recording Academy's Branden Chapman, who produces the event with Along Came Mary.

Barbie: The Dream Closet

Event producer Extra! Extra! built an interactive, large-than-life closet for Mattel's Barbie promotion that took over New York's David Rubenstein Atrium on February 10. The set up, which included 24-foot-tall doors, also had a two-story wardrobe filled with models dressed as different versions of the doll.

Moncler Grenoble’s Fall 2012 Fashion Week Show

To evoke the idea of a fairy tale winter, Moncler tapped Villa Eugenie to turn New York’s Wollman Rink in Central Park into a backdrop to showcase its Grenoble line. Light snow, which fell just an hour prior to the show on Sunday, added to the night’s ambience. In teams of three, 180 professional athletes choreographed by Luam Keflezgy provided a synchronized skating performance to music from the Harlem Boys Choir and a capella group Naturally 7.

Thom Browne's Fall/Winter 2012 Fashion Week Show

At the New York Public Library on Monday evening, designer Thom Browne staged a quirky, slightly haunting show that had models lined up beside 10 coffins, while others walked by clad in the clothes from the new collection.

Canadian Film Centre's Gala & Auction

On February 8, the Canadian Film Centre brought 570 guests to the Carlu in Toronto for its annual gala. An an installation from alumni Vanessa Shaver and Tsu-Ching Yu used Microsoft Kinect to map the movements of attendees into the constellations.

Chicago Auto Show

The Chicago Auto Show opened at McCormick Place February 10 and runs through February 19. In the exhibit area for Chevrolet’s Sonic, a station called "Sonic Boom" lets guests compose their own electronic DJ beats. After composing and recording, guests can share their DJ beats on Facebook, text them to friends, or turn them into mobile ringtones.

Wine, Women & Shoes Fund-Raiser for the Miami Children’s Hospital Foundation

For the inaugural Wine, Women & Shoes fund-raiser benefitting the Miami Children’s Hospital Foundation on February 8, the “Shoe Guys,” represented by local organizations such as the Miami Fire Department and the United States Marines, walked around the Coral Gables Country Club showing off silent auction items on silver platters.

American Repertory Theater’s “Ever After” Gala

The American Repertory Theater’s Valentine’s Day fund-raiser, held at Boston's Park Plaza Castle on Monday night, had an “Ever After” theme. Tables had names inspired by fairy tales, and flower arrangements included ferns, mosses, mushrooms, and other woodsy elements.

Washington D.C. International Wine & Food Festival

The Mid-Atlantic’s largest industry event dedicated to food and wine drew 5,000 attendees to Washington's Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center on Saturday and Sunday. New to this year’s festival was an invitation-only "Sommelier Showdown" and a Spain pavilion that showcased Spanish wines and food.
