Jackie Gleason Theatre to Be Re-Branded

Since Live Nation, the nationally known concert promoter, took over Miami Beach's landmark Jackie Gleason Theater of Performing Arts, $3.5 million in renovations and improvements have been ongoing with the goal of reopening the venue in October as the Fillmore Miami Beach at the Jackie Gleason Theater. "The aesthetics are designed to create an atmosphere that is reminiscent of the original Fillmore Theater in San Francisco that Bill Graham started in 1965," said Live Nation spokeswoman Tamar Rothbard. Including the branded Fillmore name, yet retaining the historical identification, offers a nod to the community, plus a new vibe. Along with San Francisco, Miami Beach joins four other cities with Fillmore-branded theaters—New York, Denver, Detroit, and Philadelphia. The venue will reopen on October 10 with Ricky Martin scheduled to perform.
