Ft. Lauderdale St. Regis Soon Ritz-Carlton

After much debate in the news, it's official. As of August 11, the St. Regis Fort Lauderdale will become the Ritz-Carlton Fort Lauderdale. Ritz-Carlton, with nine hotels currently operating across Florida, obtained rights to manage the property from the St. Regis, which is currently managed by Starwood Hotels & Resorts. Ritz-Carlton brings with it reach and recognition, with 35 domestic locations-eight more in the works-and 36 hotels across the world.

This move is one of many illustrating Fort Lauderdale's trend toward becoming a more attractive location for prominent luxury hotel brands. The W Hotel and Trump International Hotel & Tower are currently under construction, while the Mandarin Oriental and Waldorf-Astoria are rumored to be establishing properties in the near future.

The incoming management of the Ritz is pleased with the layout and style of the 192-room hotel, and no major changes are expected.
