WSG Development Company and Majestic Properties wanted the opening of Canyon Ranch Living's new oceanfront sales center to reflect the property's dedication to wellness and beauty while giving guests a sneak peek of what to expect when the multimillion-dollar residence opens early next year. The companies, along with its agency of record Zakarin Public Relations, hired Karla Dascal and Jose Zaldivar of Karla Conceptual Event Experiences to bring its philosophy to life.Seating areas consisted of banquettes and ottomans upholstered in natural linen or grass cloth and complemented with several 8- by 10-foot teakwood mats and rattan chairs. "This event wasn't about having bells and whistles," Zaldivar said. "The client wanted an atmosphere consistent with its image, so we created a sophisticated, elegant environment to expose guests to the Canyon Ranch lifestyle and build anticipation for the property."
In the center of the seating area, green palm fronds accented with yellow and green palm seed pods were arranged in tall containers adorned with natural wood chips. Clear cylindrical vases with floating candles provided a spa-like touch, enhancing the natural, Zen atmosphere. A soft glow emanated through eight 10-foot columns Dascal created especially for the event. The wooden base of the columns held LED lights that glowed through a gold frosted acrylic rectangular tower, each laminated with a different word representing the four-pillar philosophy of Canyon Ranch: Play, Learn, Feel, and Awaken. The columns were set up on either side of the pool for a unique lighting display.
Since the property will be designed with a combination of natural and modern elements, Zaldivar incorporated that mix into the event's design as well, using acrylic tables in between the banquettes so guests could set down a drink or plate of food from the all-organic menu made by Touch Catering.
The hors d'oeuvres served were all taken from the cookbook Canyon Ranch Cooks. The health-conscious treats included vegetarian jambalaya; lemongrass marinated tofu skewers with baby tomatoes, basil, and mint; bamboo-skewered shrimp with green apple chipotle salsa; and whole wheat vegetable pizzas. Vegan oatmeal cookies were served for dessert.
