Funkshion Fashion Week 2007 kicked off October 10 at the Paris Theatre on Miami Beach. That night, Harper's Bazaar en Espanol hosted the third annual Magia de la Moda fashion show, where designers such as Algimiro Palencia, Carolina Herrera, and Valentino showcased their spring/summer 2008 lines.
During the cocktail reception, attendees sipped their drinks while mingling around the white marble cocktail tables and lounging on white wicker couches. Copies of Harper's Bazaar en Espanol's October issue were available on each of the tables, while blown-up posters of the magazine's two covers, featuring Carolina Herrera and Gisele Bündchen, were displayed throughout the room. For the women in attendance, Mary Kay Cosmetics set up a makeup counter offering samples of their products.Trays of hors d'oeuvres were stacked in clear Lucite cases around the cocktail area, providing waiters easier access to the food they were serving and creating a unique design element, one that is quickly becoming a signature of 2Taste Catering. Selections included gazpacho shots with a touch of avocado and fruit-salad skewers. Next to the food was a shorter clear case holding white orchids surrounded by crystals, which added a bit of elegance to the presentation.
Throughout the cocktail hour, waiters carried six-foot-long clear trays with hors d'oeuvres such as beef empanadas with tomato sauce, medianoche sandwiches, and baked Brie with jerk mango and walnuts.
Upon leaving, guests received a gift bag including an IDEA home design and decorations booklet, a Mary Kay three-color lip gloss set, Bulgari Omnia Amethyste perfume, and other items, along with the October issue of the magazine.
As they walked out with their gift bags, guests were also given one last treat, as waiters lined the pathway with bowls of chocolate truffle balls on ice served on flower petals.
