Trendy boutique properties and five-star resorts are a dime a dozen in South Beach. But if the conference is in Palm Beach, check out these three new and newly renovated hotels.
1. Set to open next month, the Omphoy Ocean Resort will be Palm Beach’s first oceanfront boutique property. Owner Leslie Schlesinger designed the 134-room hotel in a simplistic style with subtle Asian influences such as silk wall sconces and a koi pond in the lobby. The resort will have 5,000 square feet of meeting space accommodating groups as large as 125. Catering on the property is exclusive to James Beard Foundation award winner Michelle Bernstein’s two on-site restaurants, Michelle Bernstein's at the Omphoy and Michelle Bernstein Terrace, which can host private and semiprivate gatherings. The 2,500-square foot Exhale Spa can also be used for events.
2. Originally built in 1926, the Brazilian Court completed a six-year $35 million renovation earlier this year. The boutique hotel has 80 redesigned suites and several indoor and outdoor function spaces. Located just outside the hotel’s main entrance, the new Brazilian Court Pavilion has a boardroom for 10 and a larger room for about 40. Inside the main building, groups can also take advantage of the 1,152-square-foot ballroom and 720-square-foot conservatory, the latter of which has a covered terrace. Chef Daniel Boulud’s first venture outside of NYC, Café Boulud, seats 270.
3. In February the Doubletree Hotel Palm Beach Gardens debuted its new Executive Meeting Center next to the main building. The standalone facility is Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design certified, an International Association of Conference Centers-approved property, and equipped with an air purification and filtration system making it 99 percent allergen-free. There are more than 10 flexible meeting rooms in the center for as many as 600 guests total. The plaza can host receptions for 200 and can be tented. The hotel also received several upgrades in the past year, including a redesigned lobby with new wall coverings, carpet, furniture, and a sound system, and the addition of a new 92-seat dining outlet, Fusion Restaurant. The outdoor pool deck also has six new four-person cabanas.
