Miami is already familiar with Rosa Mexicano, thanks to its Mary Brickell Village location. But the city now has a double dose of the upscale Mexican restaurant, thanks to a second outpost that opened inside the 1111 parking complex in March.
Rosa Mexicano South Beach has perhaps the most coveted position inside the Herzog & de Meuron plaza—on the ground-floor corner of Alton and Lincoln roads, beneath the parking garage space that has hosted numerous standout events in the past year.
The 3,500-square-foot restaurant seats 130 inside and 80 outside, and also has a private dining room that can accommodate 30 for a seated dinner or 50 for a cocktail party.
The space, designed by New York's Seed Design Studio, was inspired by the work of Mexican architect Ricardo Legorreta—in particular, his use of columns and bold, bright colors. Decor includes dark wood floors, indigo-tiled columns, and a travertine and onyx backlit bar. Artwork includes video displays of Acapulco cliff divers, and floor-to-ceiling windows overlook Miami's bustling Lincoln Road mall.
While the restaurant is open to the public seven days a week, large-group and private events can be arranged. The private dining room features a projection screen that can be used for presentations.
The catering menus place an emphasis on fresh ingredients (as is the case with all Rosa Mexicano cuisine). Signature items include guacamole en molcajete, prepared table-side, and pork belly tacos served on house-made tortillas, with spicy piloncillo pickles and fiery molcajete salsa.
Prix fixe and family-style dinner menus for parties of 10 or more are available. Event options also include a cocktail reception with a guacamole station and passed hors d'oeuvres. For even more authentic Mexican flair, planners can select food stations whose offerings include tacos al pastor, quesadillas, and ceviche. Premium bar packages include frozen pomegranate margaritas, traditional rocks margaritas, wine, beer, and mixed drinks.
