Yes, the W hotels are taking over Manhattan. The fourth just opened in the Guardian Life Building on Union Square, where architect David Rockwell has incorporated the grandeur of the Beaux Arts building into a stylish, elegant hotel. The second floor's grand ballroom--which features the building's original marble columns--can accommodate 200 people for dinner or 250 for a reception. (We hear guests are so excited to see the space that they're crowding events there, leading to bloated parties.) Some other W amenities: five meeting rooms, a chic bar and Olives, Todd English's Mediterranean restaurant.
