At the 14th annual Public Relations Society of America's (PRSA) Big Apple awards luncheon at the Marriott Marquis, three companies were recognized for their public relations work for special events:

At the 14th annual Public Relations Society of America's (PRSA) Big Apple awards luncheon at the Marriott Marquis, three companies were recognized for their public relations work for special events:
- Hunter Public Relations' work with McIlhenny Company (makers of Tabasco sauce) won them the award for a one-to-seven day event with a budget of $75,000 or more, for its Millennium Mary campaign.
- PepperCom Inc. won the award for a one-to-seven-day special event with a budget under $75,000, for its campaign to alert small business owners of EmployeeMatters (an employee administration and outsourcing business).
- Fleishman-Hillard (the big winner of the afternoon with five other wins) won the award for special events longer than seven days with a budget of $75,000 or more, for its work for the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists.
- An honorable mention for a special event for one to seven days with a budget of $75,000 or less went to Saatchi & Saatchi Rowland Worldwide for their DuPont Lycra Toeless Hosiery campaign.
