58 Has Safari-Inspired Design

In the space once occupied by Au Bar is 58, a new restaurant and lounge owned by Stratis Morfogen (creator of Sessa) and Howard Stein (creator of Au Bar). The Midtown venue’s 7,000 square feet have neoclassical African decor that includes an oak staircase, billowing canopies in earthy oranges and reds, leather banquettes, and original black-and-white African safari photos from Wayne Maser. Reserved on Mondays for live musical entertainment, the entire space can hold 650 for cocktails or seat 150. —Anna Sekula
