Among the new properties flanking the abandoned elevated rail line in west Chelsea is the HighLine Ballroom, a performance space that replaced nightclub Glo at the end of April. Owned by the Bensusan family (the operators of B.B. King’s), the concert venue already has a full roster of musical acts, including Amy Winehouse and the Brand New Heavies, as well as others as part of this month’s High Line Festival, curated by David Bowie. The HighLine Ballroom has room for 700 in a minimalist 10,000-square-foot space, with a 600-square-foot stage and a mezzanine that can be used as a V.I.P. section. Private events can book the ballroom, which comes outfitted with a full complement of performance equipment. And the venue will donate a portion of tickets sold to Friends of the High Line for the maintenance of High Line Park. —Anna Sekula
