Spring brings the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s tony Costume Institute gala, and the exhibition tied to this year’s festivities is “Poiret: King of Fashion,” an exploration of French master Paul Poiret. Known for his exotic  influences and daring colors, Poiret was the first designer to create a women’s fragrance, and he said a woman’s style should extend to many facets of her life, including her home. The show runs May 9 through August 5.
