To promote Homer and Bart Simpson's big-screen debut in July, Fox Broadcasting transformed a dozen 7-Eleven stores into Springfield's fictional chain of choice, Kwik-e-Mart, selling Simpson favorites like Squishees, Buzz Cola, and Krusty-O's Cereal. It was so popular that fans flocked to the stores to take photos and snap up the goods. Now The New York Times reports that although the promotion is over, it keeps on giving. Those same items are now on eBay, and bidding is fierce. A search for "Kwik-e-Mart" found more than 180 items. Spokespeople for Fox and 7-Eleven both said the promotion had been wildly successful—not only did the items sell out; they have now become collectibles.
