Performa will hold its second biennial celebrating the best in new visual-art performance starting tomorrow. More than 100 artists will exhibit at more than 25 venues, including the Guggenheim, BAM, and the Judson Church. Performa has also commissioned nine artists to create live performances specifically for the event, including local musicians Japanther, who will perform their mini-musical The Dinosaur’s Death Dance in conjunction with the Robbinschild dance company. Also on the lineup is Italian artist Francesco Vezzoli’s restaging of a Pirandello play in the rotunda of the Guggenheim, coproduced by the Gagosian Gallery.
