* INCOMING *

1. GOOGLE AT CANNES: We hear from our far-flung correspondent in France that Google is impressing attendees at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity this week with a "Creative Sandbox" promotion set up on the beach outside the festival proper (where Microsoft is a big sponsor). Google is showing off some of its offerings in a relaxed, beach-club-style atmosphere. Field Marketing says Flourish Creative is producing:

2. CRITICIZING THE CRITICS' CHOICE: The Hollywood Reporter has good things to say about the inaugural Critics' Choice Television Awards on Monday: "For a first-time show, the fast-paced afternoon event at the Beverly Hills Hotel was a success on a number of levels." One mistake: "stopping the program about two-thirds of the way through for an intermission so the waiters could clear the tables and bring out desert. By then it was well into the afternoon and much of the Hollywood crowd took that as a cue to exit." Curious? Watch the Reelz Channel telecast Thursday.

3. VENDOR SCUFFLE IN THE U.K.: London-based Event magazine: "The company that last year tore down hundreds of websites following Event pressure has again appeared to fall foul of over-enthusiastic website creators, this time using images of event industry acts without their permission. ES Promotions, which took over The Entertainment Group last year, has been accused by event industry professionals of not only using images illegally but also continuing to respond to emails addresses that are similar to other agencies."
