* INCOMING *

1. 'GATSBY' DELAY: The movie we were expecting to give the event industry some end-of-the-year inspiration has been bumped. Warner Bros. Pictures and Village Roadshow Pictures announced Monday they're moving the release date of Baz Luhrmann's The Great Gatsby from Christmas 2012 to summer 2013. The Hollywood Reporter worries that it will put a damper on this year's red carpets: http://bit.ly/MttD9H

Gatsby-related Hamptons themes already started showing up this summer: http://bit.ly/MJs2bh

Here's the trailer: http://bit.ly/OGlw5m

2. TROJAN'S STREET MARKETING: Kicking off a major street promotion, Trojan plans to hand out 10,000 free vibrators in New York this week from hot dog carts rebranded as "pleasure carts" with the brand's logos. The giveaway has a retail value of $350,000, which the company says is the largest vibrator handout ever. The stunt was announced, fittingly, during Howard Stern's radio show. New York Times: "The strategy throughout for Trojan, a Church & Dwight brand, has been to challenge the stigmas associated with the products. The company has advertised aggressively, even during prime time on some cable networks. In 2011, Trojan spent $10.5 million advertising its Vibrations line, according to the Kantar Media unit of WPP. Today, the Trojan devices are carried in retailers that were not on the radar for sex-toy shoppers a decade ago, including Walmart, Walgreens, CVS and Rite Aid." http://nyti.ms/Q8ReaC

3. GENERATION GLAMOUR: The magazine is debuting a marketing campaign to lure back readers and advertisers. AdWeek: "The brand campaign effort will kick off Aug. 13 with what Glamour is calling an 'upfront,' styled after the TV industry preview of upcoming shows to advertisers. In this case, the programming content will be research Glamour has done on Millennials. The event will include a panel with representatives of Mashable and online financial company LearnVest (underscoring Glamour’s digital savvy) as well as Ogilvy and others. The campaign will culminate in a live event in October featuring up-and-coming celebrities who are deemed to be popular with Millennials." http://bit.ly/ReKP1n

4. DJ DOLLARS: Forbes has compiled its first ranking of the world's 10 highest-paid DJs. Huffington Post: "When you consider that these DJs are now performing at some of the world's biggest music festivals, gracing the cover of Rolling Stone, walking red carpets and making gossip headlines, it's no surprise that they are becoming notable celebrities in their own rights." http://huff.to/QLbS4q

5. NO BADGE, NO PROBLEM: At most high-profile conferences, there's the event itself and there are the unofficial side events. At SXSW, one community is known as "badgeless." The Conference Publishers: "Badgeless is an organized movement of individuals who choose not to register (or pay the steep cost for a badge) for the annual nerd fest in Austin, Texas. Instead, its members connect via social media to enjoy the many free (and non-sanctioned) activities that have grown up around the main conference and trade show." http://bit.ly/MigkTv

6. GOLF'S DIGITAL DEMAND: The P.G.A. Championship, the final major tournament of the golf season, will have a significant presence online, bringing new sponsors with it. AdWeek: "That approach will include a Mercedes-sponsored live video player, sponsored video series and other brand sponsored widgets like RBC's live stat leaderboard. To capitalize on the social media frenzy surrounding live sports, PGA.com will debut Social Caddy, a live and aggregated feed that looks to capture relevant social information from the Twittter, Facebook, and Instagram firehoses." http://bit.ly/OHoNBl

7. SAMSUNG BLITZ: Heard buzz around Samsung lately? The electronic-gadget manufacturer has been everywhere lately—even London—to promote its newest smartphone, the Galaxy S III. Mashable: "Samsung just sent media invitations for an event in New York City on August 15. The invitation doesn't say specifically what is going to be unveiled, but the illustration appears to show the outline of a tablet created with pen strokes, which may imply another in one of Samsung's line of Galaxy Note devices." http://on.mash.to/RS6t9h

8. POWER RESTAURANTS: Where do creative types from San Francisco to New York meet for high-profile business meals? AdWeek checks in on the hottest spots. http://bit.ly/NkVLGD
