Partygoers crowded tables set up at 200 Fifth Club to get a taste of nibbles from dozens of New York restaurants at Tastings 2000, a benefit for the Momentum AIDS Project, an organization that provides services to people with HIV/AIDS. The tables filled just about every inch of the vast space, and hungry guests managed to sample food from restaurants including Bond Street, Calle Ocho, Lotus, Metrazur, Osteria del Circo, Rosa Mexicano and the Russian Tea Room.
The event also included awards for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS and AIDS researcher Dr. Donald Kotler. Tastings 2000 was organized by Jenny Tzakas-Campise, the organization's event specialist; the event's co-chairman was Anthony Larrisey, events manager for barnesandnoble.com.
In addition to browsing through items in a silent auction, attendees also got to sample a few entertainment choices: Peggy Cone and her Gentlemen played jazz songs in the main lobby, and later the main stage showcased performances from cast members from The Donkey Show (who did a few songs from the disco-Shakespeare-themed show) and Naked Boys Singing (who were, in fact, singing, but opted to wear tank tops and jeans).
