At the Technology Exchange Week New York trade show at Javits Center, Working Woman magazine's pink-lit, white fabric-sculpted booth by Pink Inc. was a welcome sight in a sea of shiny steel piping and variations on the color blue that occupied the rest of the trade show floor. The fabric sculptures soared toward the ceiling, where a small, unimposing, yet noticeable three-sided circle was suspended, covered with the Working Woman logo in fuschia. The small area contained the set up for the 2001 Women Elevating Science and Technology (WEST) awards, which were awarded to Barbara Babcock of Unisys, Janet Davidson of Lucent Technologies, Harriet Pearson of IBM, Mary Byron of Goldman Sachs, Padmasree Warrior of Motorola and Anne Mulcahy of Xerox for their pioneer work in the tech industry.
