Sometimes plates at events have nothing to do with the food. The Retreat got 142 artists and other celebrities to paint plates that will be auctioned at the Hamptons nonprofit's Artists Against Abuse event to raise money for the organization, which offers shelter and programs for victims of domestic violence and their children. Before the actual auction (which takes place on August 11 in the Channing Daughters Winery in Bridgehampton) the Retreat set up a preview reception at Sotheby's, where guests could check out the plates, which were painted by notables including artists Louise Bourgeois, Jenny Holzer and Yoko Ono, plus makeup guru Bobbi Brown, gab queen Rosie O'Donnell, violinist Itzhak Perlman and actress Leelee Sobieski.
