The New York Public Library's Library Lions benefit took full advantage of one of the most gorgeous event spaces in the city--the main library on Fifth Avenue. Brooke Astor, this year's Library Lion (and one of the library's most generous benefactors), was honored at a dinner attended by 350 guests in the Celeste Bartos Forum, with cocktails in the appropriately named Astor Hall.
The event was organized by Kathryn Laino, head of special events at the library. For decor, Avi Adler placed a huge, yellow weeping willow display in the middle of the hall, which added a perfect amount of visual texture to the hall's soaring stone and marble arches. Inside the forum, Adler placed stacks of hardcover books covered with custom-made paper covers with decorative stitching and pompom flowers, and scattered hazelnuts and yellow votive candles on the table in lieu of traditional centerpieces.
