Old and new coexisted beautifully at the Shiseido Cosmetics America preview for beauty editors, a showcase of the company’s spring 2007 collection at the Felissimo Design House. Edit staffers enjoyed either a breakfast presentation or an afternoon tea function at the turn-of-the-century town house, which EventStyle New York’s Mark Addison remade as the “House of Shiseido” for the day.Addison fused the cosmopolitan sensibility of the Shiseido brand with the traditional style of the space to create a setting that whimsically blended the classic and modern. To highlight Shiseido’s six new lines, which include reformulated and repackaged skin-care products, EventStyle created two-dimensional silhouettes of ornate frames in all white to showcase the company’s imagery. Similarly, white tables throughout the space were constructed with two-dimensional Edwardian legs, another playful nod to the traditional surroundings.
Accent lights in hues custom-matched to the shades of Shiseido’s packaging and makeup glowed from Levy Lighting’s Pronto line of battery-operated LED lights, and Creative Edge Parties served menu items ranging from vanilla poundcake bruschetta in the morning session to prosciutto BLTs later on.
