Andaz, the latest brand within the Hyatt Hotels group, opened its financial district property—its first in New York—on Monday. Situated at the eastern end of Wall Street, the 13-floor Andaz Wall Street offers 253 rooms, a level of dedicated meeting and banquet space, and a bar and restaurant designed by David Rockwell and the Rockwell Group. A second hotel, the Andaz 5th Avenue, is slated to debut later this year.
Done in neutral tones and modern furnishings, the Andaz Wall Street is designed to reflect the brand's simple, contemporary aesthetic. Rooms have seven-foot-tall windows and are decorated with dark oak flooring, headboards and benches upholstered in tan leather, and bleached wood accents. Two-tone bamboo wall panels and marble counters ornament the lobby lounge. In the 5,920-square-foot Andaz Studio—the area that houses the hotel's meeting rooms—moss green carpets contrast dark wood tables and chairs.
There are five distinct Andaz Studio spaces for business functions and catered events, the largest of which is 953 square feet. Each studio comes equipped with audiovisual equipment and a small kitchen, and a communal dining room—where hotel chefs prepare made-to-order dishes—and prefunction area can be used as breakout spaces.
Also available for dinners and meetings is the 458-square-foot private room at the hotel's restaurant. Wall & Water officially opens next Monday, January 25, with a design from the Rockwell Group and a menu of dishes created with produce sourced from Hudson Valley farms and markets. Open and spacious—it runs the length of the hotel—the eatery includes two sections for dining, an open kitchen, a 12-seat chef's table, and space for 10 seated banquet style in the private room.
