In time for today's Earth Day celebrations, environmental cooperative Green Spaces opened its TriBeCa loft for events and meetings. The 1,750-square-foot SalonEco, which sits at the rear of an office space shared by socially conscious start-ups, bears all the hallmarks of a downtown loft—exposed brick walls, hardwood flooring, and an open layout—but also incorporates eco-friendly fixtures and repurposed furnishings.
Decorated with a rotating exhibition of sustainable art and vintage couches and chairs, the site is suitable for cocktail receptions for 125 or small dinners and meetings; larger functions can book the entire floor, a 5,000-square-foot space that holds approximately 300 for receptions. On-site amenities include wireless Internet access, a basic sound system, a projector, lighting, an on-site kitchen, and freight elevator access.
SalonEco uses wind power and chemical-free cleaning supplies, recycles all paper and plastic waste, and through a partnership with Sustainable Party, has a store of compostable servingware from companies like VerTerra. Green Spaces is also affiliated with other eco-conscious vendors, such caterer the Pantry Lab.
